Anika and Bjoern present Miller Junior Scientist Award at the CVB2025 Meeting

Anika and Bjoern established the David S. Miller Junior Scientist Award in 2016 to honor Dr. Miller’s legacy as a mentor and to support emerging researchers in the brain barriers field. The award recognizes early-career scientists conducting innovative and impactful research. This year, Anika presented the award to Dr. Gaétan Braud of INSERM, France, in recognition of his promising work on regulating blood–CNS barrier integrity in health and disease.

We welcome Ava Plunkett, an undergraduate student from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, for a summer research project. Ava is the recipient of a Vincent Scholarship that she was awarded by the Smurfit Institute of Genetics and the American-Ireland Fund. Ava will spend the summer with us to gain research experience.

Manekya received a Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Program Student Travel Award to attend the Pharmaceutics Graduate Student Research Meeting (PGSRM) in Kansas City. She will present her research and participate in planning the PGSRM meeting at the University of Kentucky next year.

Brayden featured in UKNow for CURE Fellowship

UKNow recently featured Brayden’s selection for the 2026 Commonwealth Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) Fellowship program.
